We are very happy to announce that Lake County Fire Rescue has added it's 17th ALS (Advanced Life Support) Engine. This latest ALS truck is upgraded with a paramedic on it at all times. This upgrade in service to the citizens of Lake County means when this fire engine arrives on the scene of a medical emergency, MVA, or any other type of call, the paramedic can provide all the same skills and stabilize a patient the same as the ambulance. Paramedics can administer life saving medications, establish IV's, take an EKG, and perform many invasive life saving procedures out in the field. They can pretty much do everything but transport the patient to the hospital. This upgrade in service also helps the very busy ambulance crews out by having "ALS" established prior to their arrival.
Engine 71 is located in the Bassville Park area off of CR 473 & Hwy 441 (near the mall) bordering Leesburg and Tavares.
Lake County, Florida is just over 1,100 square miles and is serviced by 25 staffed county fire stations and numerous municipal fire stations.
