Fruitland Park, FL – Lake County Firefighters were called out early Monday morning for a house fire on Pine Street in Fruitland Park, just after 3AM. “The single wide mobile home was full involved upon the arrival of the first trucks” reports Lt. Brian Gamble, Vice President of the Professional Firefighters of Lake County. “The home was abandoned and was a total loss”. Firefighters arrived in about 9 minutes.
Firefighters took about 60 minutes to extinguish the blaze. “Despite the house being a total loss, firefighters have to pull the collapsed metal roof apart to be able to get in to put the fire out”. The home was reported abandoned for about two years according to bystanders. “We fight a fire like this in a “defensive” mode to minimize risk and injury” Gamble explains.
One firefighter was treated for exhaustion at the scene but was not transported. The blaze was ruled suspicious and is under investigation by the state Fire Marshall’s office.
