2 Bikers Flown To Trauma Centers
Updated On: Apr 22, 2015
Lake Count Firefighters Responded to 2 Separate Motorcycle Accidents Tuesday

Lady Lake, FL – Thousands of bikers will be rolling into town this weekend to enjoy one of the largest weekend bike events in the United States.

However, two separate accidents involving motorcyles on Tuesday resulted in two riders being airlifted to trauma centers.

Tuesday evening around 7PM, Lake County Firefighters were called out for a car versus motorcycle on Highway 27 in the Four Corners area of Clermont. Firefighters arrived on scene in just minutes and started ALS (Advanced Life Support) care on the biker lying in the road. A request for a medical helicopter was made to transport the patient to a trauma center in Orlando.

Only minutes later, an accident on Highway 27 in Lady Lake resulted in Lake County Firefighters responding to another motorcycle colliding with the side of a pickup truck attempting to cross the highway. The biker was assessed by Lake EMS Paramedics and Lake County Firefighters and also flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Marion County. The biker was in serious condition. “We are encouraging everyone to please be extra cautious this week and weekend,” urges Lt. Brian Gamble, Vice President of the Professional Firefighters of Lake County. “The weekend Bikefest has not even started, and we have already had two serious motorcycle accidents resulting in people being flown to trauma centers. We want all our bikers and motorists to go home safely. We not only want every to look twice, we also encourage our bikers to ride safe and wear all the proper safety equipment. Even just laying down a bike can result in serious road rash if you are not wearing proper clothing.”

Law enforcement is investigating the cause of both crashes.
